The system

Your Roof Is a Complete System, Not Just Shingles.

Most failures start below the surface. Here is what actually goes on your home, from the deck up.

  1. 1Roof deckWalked and sounded after tear-off. Soft or damaged sheathing is replaced and photographed before anything covers it.
  2. 2Leak barrier at vulnerable areasSelf-adhering membrane at eaves, valleys, and penetrations, where wind-driven rain and ice damming do their damage.
  3. 3Synthetic underlaymentA tough secondary water barrier across the whole field, fastened to specification rather than stapled loose.
  4. 4Starter, field shingles, and ridge capMatched components from one manufacturer's system so the warranty and the wind rating actually hold.
  5. 5Flashing and edge metalNew drip edge, pipe boots, step and counter flashing: the details that outlast or undo a roof.

Homeowners

You should be able to compare bids honestly

Every home gets a walk-through before we quote. You see photographs of what we found, an explanation of what has to be corrected, and a written scope that lists materials by name, not "shingles and underlayment."

Installation is supervised on site. We protect landscaping and HVAC units, sweep the property with magnets daily, and finish with a walk-through with you before the job is closed out.

Ventilation

The part of your roof you never see working

  1. Intake at the soffitWithout open intake, exhaust vents pull air from inside the house instead of the outdoors. We check that soffit vents are present and not painted or insulated shut.
  2. Exhaust at the ridgeContinuous ridge vent lets hot, humid attic air leave at the highest point. Where framing does not allow it, we use off-ridge venting instead.
  3. Balanced to attic volumeIntake and exhaust are sized to the attic, and we avoid mixing vent types that short-circuit airflow.
  4. Why it matters in AlabamaLong humid summers cook shingles from underneath and load an attic with moisture. Balanced ventilation is one of the least expensive ways to protect the system.
